That Vague "Collegiality" Score

At Blue Lab Coats, DrdrA discusses her answers to YoungFemaleScientist's poll on what is the "single most important criterion" for hiring decisions. DrdrA says that, for her, it's not so simple as just the postdoc PI or number of papers. Rather, she creates a ranking system from the cover letter, CV, and research plan and is on the lookout for first-author papers, high-quality journals, prior or pending grants, and if the research area is competitive and fundable. She also tries to keep in mind that the applicant will be a colleague and that collegiality is important as well.
