Using DNA to Help Holocaust Victims

An article in The Scientist recounts the formation of the DNA Shoah Project, led by Syd Mandelbaum, which plans to establish a genetic database of Holocaust survivors. Through this database, they hope to be able to reunite postwar orphans sent to Israel, the US, or the UK with their families and to identify remains recently uncovered in Germany.
