A report from Battelle, the Biotechnology Industry Organization, and the Biotechnology Institute rank US states in terms of middle and high school students' performance in the biosciences, based on the National Assessment of Educational Progress. At the top of the list are Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Rounding out the bottom group are Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and West Virginia.
