TOCs Without RSS

Researchers aren't the only ones who need easier, better ways of keeping up with all that's published. "What librarians and every researcher needs is RSS feeds for journal TOCs," says Roddy MacLeod of Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, at the blog Sciencebase. "Moreover, publishers must produce TOC feeds in a standardized way." He'll be promoting ticTOCs, he says, which is an aggregation service that can display tables of contents without the user having to have any knowledge of RSS. In fact, ticTOCs includes over 11,000 journal TOCs from more than 300 publishers.
