The Philadelphia Inquirer takes a look at John Maris' work at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia into neuroblastoma, an often fatal tumor affecting children. Within a little more than a year, Maris and his colleagues identified three genes associated with risk of neuroblastoma through a genome-wide association study and began a related drug trial as one of the genes identified is also implicated in some lung cancers.
