Spend 30 Minutes on Your Intro. Everyone Loves That

After seeing Alexei Kapterev's funny -- and instructional -- presentation called "Death by PowerPoint," Berci Mesko says he changed his presentation style to show more pictures and less text, and realized that the point of a talk is not to throw all possible information at the listeners, but to persuade them to look at your work after the talk. Mesko also posts a YouTube video in which a comedian demonstrates all the bad PowerPoint habits and links to a British Medical Journal article that offers tips on how to give a bad presentation. "Step up to the platform, open your mouth, and see what comes out. With luck, your talk will be an incoherent ramble," writes Richard Smith.
