Geneticists at Washington University School of Medicine have confirmed a link between the gene CHRM2, and performance IQ. Variations within the gene have been correlated with small differences in performance IQ scores. While it’s not to be dubbed an “intelligence gene,” CHRM2 rather activates brain signaling pathways that influence IQ. Interesting to note, the research was part of a larger study on alcoholism, and the DNA was gathered from people who had been treated for alcohol dependence and members of their families.
