Yahoo's new Build Your Own Search Service allows programmers to use Yahoo's index of the web, reports MIT's Technology Review. This service should remove "the biggest barrier to search innovation," according to the article. The head of Yahoo Research says that BOSS projects might come up with better ways to search videos or images, incorporated social networking, or actually understand Web page content rather than the keywords and links.
