Marcus Wilson at Physics Stop says that poster presentations have several advantages over other types of talks. "There is a view amongst some people that a poster presentation is inferior to an oral presentation ... posters range from lousy to excellent in exactly the same way as oral presentations can range from lousy to excellent," he writes. When presenting a poster, investigators "can spend time with the people who are really interested" and don't face the "problem of talking to an audience that has both experts and non-experts in it," Wilson says, adding that unlike an oral presentation, you can roll your poster up and "take it back home with you."
