At the Daily Transcript, Alex Palazzo gives a rundown of how DNA is organized and how that organization affects gene expression -- it's not all epigenetics and noncoding RNAs (remember promoters and enhancers?). He starts by describing the "pearl necklace" of DNA and histones, then goes into how those nucleosomes can be modified and how those modifications influence gene expression. "You see it is a very complicated mess, but one that allows for a very dynamic regulation of gene expression," Palazzo writes.
