The Guardian reports on university angst in the UK as budgets were revealed to show tough hits for research. "Top universities including Imperial College London, University College London and Cambridge face substantial cuts this year after losing out in the allocation of £1.6bn of research funding," the story says. "A total of 53 universities face cuts after being allocated below-inflation increases in funding for research and teaching for next year."
