Or It's Just a New Way to Procrastinate

At Public Rambling, Pedro Beltrão says FriendFeed, which he defines as a "life stream aggregator," works surprisingly well. He says one of the possible reasons it works is that early adopter scientists gave it the critical mass to really start discussions, pointing to the Life Scientists room in particular. "Ongoing discussions get bumped higher in the view so every new comment brings the item back to your attention. In this way you know who saw the item and who is thinking about it. A bit like talking about a movie you saw or a book you read with a bunch of friends," writes Beltrão.
