The New York Times reports on the visa crunch here in the US, leading off with a look at microRNA researcher Alena Shkumatava at the Whitehead Institute. Shkumatava "is among the several hundred thousand students who need a visa to study in the United States," the article says. "People at universities and scientific organizations who study the issue say they have heard increasing complaints of visa delays since last fall, particularly for students in science engineering and other technical fields." There's increasing concern that such problems will drive away foreign students from US institutions.
