Make Way for a New 'Ome

A paper published recently in PLoS Computational Biology puts the ARFome, or Alternative Reading Frame-ome, in perspective. Researchers from UCSD and Penn State's Center for Comparative Genomics and Bioinformatics performed the first genome-wide scan for ARFs in mammalian genes, identifying 40 candidate genes with evolutionarily conserved overlapping coding regions.
