DrdrA at Blue Lab Coats wants to know what you are teaching your students about grant submissions. She writes that when she was a student, she was "totally clueless" about what happened to a grant after it was submitted, but became more acquainted with the process during her postdoc and then as junior faculty. The basics of the grant process, DrdrA says, can be picked up through searching online "but the more subtle stuff you will either have to learn by bitter experience or you'll have to just ask and ask and ask until you find the mentor who will lay that information out for you, step by step. And believe me, there is LOTS of this little subtle stuff that is really important."
