J. Craig's Still Working On It...

Veteran science journalist Carl Zimmer takes Britain's The Guardian to task for publishing a "non-story" about J. Craig's latest research in synthetic biology, which GTO blogged about yesterday. Zimmer points out that Venter has not yet finished building the synthetic genome, and doesn't mince words about the project's progress. Blogs Zimmer, "It's no secret that Venter and his colleagues are working on this — but what evidence is there that he's done and about to announce? Was it a coincidence that the Guardian published this questionable story a couple days before they published an excerpt from Craig Venter's new memoir?"
