Help Is on the Way

At the White House Science Fair this week, US President Barack Obama plans to announce a new initiative to help math and science teachers, reports the Associated Press. The upcoming budget proposed by the president will include $80 million for "a new Education Department competition to support math and science teacher preparation programs," AP says. "Obama wants to prepare more teachers and to train a million additional math, technology, engineering and science graduates over the next decade."

Obama included a similar measure in his budget proposal last year, AP adds, but Congress did not approve it.
