Hell and the Science Committee

Representative Paul Broun (R-Ga.) aims to keep his seat on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee for its upcoming session, reports US News and World Report. Earlier this fall, a video of Broun speaking at a sportsman's banquet at Liberty Baptist Church in Georgia showed the lawmaker calling evolution, embryology, and the Big Bang theory "lies straight from the pit of hell."

A spokesperson for the congressman tells US News and World Report that Broun wants to return to the science committee, and that the video is "not something we're concerned about." She adds that the committee assignments should be made soon.
