Jonathan Eisen has a blog post congratulating UCSF's Joe DeRisi on winning the Heinz Award -- and, since it's Eisen, reminding us that DeRisi is "one of the true pioneers of Open Science, not only promoting Open Access publishing but also promoting open sharing of methods, equipment, data, and everything." Heinz says DeRisi earned his award for "his extraordinary breakthroughs in detecting both new and existing viruses."
