Yesterday, according to the White House's website, President Bush announced that Francis Collins is one of eight people to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The award honors anyone who has made a serious contribution to the security of the nation, world peace, or another significant cultural endeavor. “Francis S. Collins has revolutionized genetic research. Under his leadership, the Human Genome Project mapped and sequenced the full human genome and greatly expanded our understanding of human DNA," they write.
