Both Google and Microsoft have designs on overhauling healthcare records and putting patients in control of their own information, according to this article in the New York Times. After looking through screenshots of Google Health, VentureBeat's David Hamilton calls the prototype of the online personal health record site "a solid but unremarkable effort, one that probably wouldn't even merit much attention were it not from Google." But, he points out, that might just make all the difference.
