Going Generic

Pfizer is looking to expand its role in the generics market, reports the Health Blog at the Wall Street Journal. To grow in this market, the president of Pfizer's established products business says they will "develop its own new products, buy licenses or acquire companies." Simmons did not say whether Pfizer was looking into acquiring the Icelandic Actavis Group or the German Ratiopharm, which are both on the market.

In another Pfizer-related post at the same blog, former Pfizer sales manager Thomas Farina was convicted of obstruction of justice for having an employee alter a document referring to an unapproved use of a drug (that Pfizer was in a legal battle over) and back-dating that change. The name of the drug was not released.
