Yale bioinformaticists have developed a method for fine mapping copy number variations, enabling more detailed study of CNV frequencies. They report in this week's PNAS on a computational approach called BreakPtr, which predicts breakpoints of large deletions and amplifications to a resolution of 300 base pairs.
