Google's cloud is now available through AppEngine, an integrated application environment, blogs Deepak Singh. The drawback, he says, is that it is currently limited to Python and scientists need more flexibility than that. "Personally, I prefer the flexibility and HPC capabilities of [Amazon's] AWS, and the ecosystem that it has spawned due to it's flexibility and generalized architecture, but if you are a web app developer and this includes bioinformaticians/cheminformaticians, give AppEngine a look, you might find it useful," he writes.
