Seventh graders from KIPP Bridge Charter in Oakland, CA, put together a video rap battle between Rosalind Franklin and James Watson and Francis Crick, and as Jezebel writes, "This might be most definitely is the best thing on the entire Internet."
Tom McFadden, the educator who helped the students with the project, adds in a blog post that the lyrics are annotated at Rapgenius. The annotations explain some of the students' allusions, such as the line from Franklin — "It has not escaped my notice that you’re a jerk" — that refers to a sentence from Watson and Crick's 1953 Nature paper. They famously wrote, referring to their structure of DNA, that "[i]t has not escaped our notice that the specific pairing we have postulated immediately suggests a possible copying mechanisms for the genetic material."
