A Few Vacancies

Eva Pell, the undersecretary for science at the US Smithsonian Institution, has announced that she will leave her post in March, ScienceInsider reports. Pell has held that position for four years. Previously, she was a professor and then senior vice president for research and dean of the graduate school at Pennsylvania State University, according to the Smithsonian.

ScienceInsider notes that Smithsonian Secretary G. Wayne Clough announced in the fall that he would be retiring in October 2014. A third vacancy was also created by the departure of Eldredge Bermingham, the director of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute.

The Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History currently has an exhibit focused on DNA and genomic medicine.
