Fellowship Frenzy

The winners of this year's MacArthur Foundation genius grants were announced. Among the recipients of the $500,000 fellowship are Maneesh Agrawala at the University of California, Berkeley, Lin He, also at UC-Berkeley, and L. Mahadevan at Harvard University. Agrawala works on ways to help people visualize complex data; He studies microRNA and cancer development; and Mahadevan is a mathematician who studies the behavior of complex systems. "In the end," Mahadevan tells the Boston Globe, "it is driven by what drives all of us — curiosity."
