In the New York Times magazine coming out this weekend, Ruth Padawer examines the relationship between biological paternity and legal paternity. While DNA tests might establish the former, the law has quite a different take on the latter, she finds. "The scientific advance that was supposed to offer clarity instead reveals just how murky society's notions of fatherhood actually are," Padawer writes.
