Jonathan Eisen's search for the source of a 'BadOmics' cartoon had Daily Scan digging through the GenomeWeb archives this week.

As neuromusic pointed out in a comment at Eisen's The Tree of Life blog, the cartoon's punchline — "How do you define success in science? 'When I coin my own -ome word.'" — derives from a GenomeWeb article from 2002.
