Coming Soon to a Campus Theatre Near You

Jorge Cham's well-read cartoon strip Piled Higher and Deeper is in production as a movie, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education. The comic strip, which Cham began while in school, follows the lives of a handful of graduate students. Cham spoke with Hollywood agents but decided to collaborate with the Caltech community instead to produce and act in the film, casting real-life student to play the comic strip ones. "I knew I wanted to cast people who would just be themselves," Cham tells the Chronicle, "people who had some quality of the characters in them so it would feel more natural on-screen." He hopes to have the movie in campus theatres in the fall.
