Cloud Computing at Microsoft

Tech Review looks into Microsoft's Windows Cloud project, which is still firmly under wraps. Amitabh Srivastava, the head of cloud computing at Microsoft, says that it is "risky," and Tech Review adds that that "is quite something from a guy whose last project was the late and troubled Windows Vista operating system." An unnamed source at the company said that cloud computing is going to affect everything that Microsoft does. Berkeley's Armando Fox points out that, compared to Linux or Amazon's EC2, "Windows virtualization technology is a lot less mature, especially as far as consolidating multiple copies of Windows efficiently onto a single server."
