A bill reintroduced last week by John Coyners (D-MI), called the Fair Copyright in Research Works Act, would undo the NIH's requirement that NIH-funded researchers have to provide a copy of their peer-reviewed articles for deposition in PubMed Central database, Science Insider reports. The bill's supporters say the current policy hurts publisher's copyright protections while critics say it gives the public access to federally-funded research.
