But the problem with this is that this is not how the institution [sees] these responsibilities — or it is, at least, not how they talk about them," she writes, adding that she has sat in plenty of meetings on revamping curriculum and the needs of students but none on how to manage and run a strong research group. In the comments to the post, DrugMonkey adds that "there is also the very serious question of what an institution says are its priorities while faculty are muddling along and what it actually does when it comes to promotions time."
