"You want the entire experience to exude professionalism," he says, to kick off his list of what not to do. First, don't be funny on your voicemail message and don't use that automated voice. "This type of message always makes me wonder if I dialed the number correctly, and if the person will actually get the message. It's cryptic and unfriendly," Medley says.
