Biosafety Three, Biosafety Four ... How Much Difference Could There Be?

Here's a story from the UN Observer & International Report about the University of Wisconsin-Madison getting into hot water. According to the article, university researchers "made and manipulated copies of the entire Ebola virus genome without proper safety precautions." (They worked in a biosafety level 3 lab instead of a level 4.) That's a violation of NIH guidelines, even though researchers did get permission for the work from the University of Wisconsin Institutional Biosafety Committee, the story says.
