A Big Fight

Malaria researchers, here's a new pot of money. Malaria No More, the World Bank, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the UK government, the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and other donors, including U2's Bono, joined forces to create the Global Malaria Action Plan, reports the Wall Street Journal. The organization has pledged $3 billion to combat malaria, particularly in Africa, by providing insecticides, medicines, and mosquito nets in the short term; long term, it hopes to have a vaccine.
