Adding the 'Visual' to the 'Mapper'

Attila Csordás has been playing around with 23andMe's new Haplogroup Tree Mutation Mapper that is part of the company's new Labs section. Csordás compares the section to Google Labs and at the 23andMe blog they say this section of their service will be "less refined" and "somewhat more fluid." Csordás says that after searching a haplotype, the user gets a list of the mutations that define the group. "Playing with a pure textual list of SNPs doesn't sound too fascinating and the tool is not really a 'Mapper' as there's no visualization included," he writes. He then coupled the information from that list with MitoWheel, which he helped develop, to visualize the SNPs.
