$400 Million? Drop in the Bucket

The Broad Institute's big announcement this morning is that Eli and Edythe Broad will be giving the institute $400 million and will be making its 10-year experiment as a genomic research center permanent. Eli Broad told the Boston Globe: "It's the biggest investment we've ever made, and we think the returns are just great from what we've seen so far." This latest gift from the Broads is the largest made to any US academic institution for biomedical research.
