Genome-wide association analyses for carcass quality in crossbred beef cattle.
BMC Genet. 2013 Sep 11;14(1):80.
Lu D, et al.
The authors used llumina's BovineSNP50 BeadChip to survey genomic regions that potentially harbor genes or underlying variation in carcass quality of beef cattle. This study used 747 genotyped animals, mainly crossbred, with phenotypes on twelve carcass quality traits. Eight SNPs were found significantly associated with hot carcass weight. Seven of these SNP were located on Bos taurus autosome 6.
Genome-wide DNA methylation assay reveals novel candidate biomarker genes in cervical cancer.
Epigenetics. 2013 Sep 12;8(11). [Epub ahead of print]
Farkas S, et al.
The aim of this study was to identify new candidate genes that are differentially methylated in squamous cell carcinoma compared with DNA samples from cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 (CIN3) and normal cervical scrapes. Using llumina's Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChip the authors found an extensive differential methylation signature in cervical cancer compared with the CIN3 or normal cervical tissues.
Identification of genes promoting skin youthfulness by genome-wide association study.
J Invest Dermatol. 2013 Sep 13. [Epub ahead of a print]
Chang A, et al.
To identify genes that promote facial skin youthfulness (SY), a genome-wide association study on an Ashkenazi-Jewish discovery group was performed using Affymetrix's SNP Array 6.0 Six identified SNPs were interrogated using Sequenom's MassARRAY in a replication group with confirmation of rs6975107, an intronic region of KCND2. A second replication group confirmed rs318125, downstream of DIAPH2 and rs7616661, downstream of EDEM1.
