People in the News: Steve Lombardi, Chris Roberts, Martha Trela, Lixin Zhou


Real Time Genomics has appointed Steve Lombardi as president and CEO. Lombardi was president and then CEO of Helicos Biosciences between 2006 and 2010, and he was a senior executive involved in corporate development and business management at Affymetrix between 2002 and 2006. He also held several sales and management positions at Applied Biosystems (now Life Technologies) in product, sales, and business management from 1986 to 2002.

HTG Molecular Diagnostics has hired Chris Roberts as vice president of medical innovation. Roberts formerly was VP of the oncology division at Caris Life Sciences and was a director in Ventana Medical Systems' molecular diagnostic and strategic marketing divisions.

Martha Trela, former vice president of marketing at Pacific Biosciences, has left the company and currently works as an industry consultant. Previously, she was vice president of commercial marketing at Affymetrix, and before that vice president of worldwide marketing at Applied Biosystems, now part of Life Technologies.

Pathway Genomics has named Lixin Zhou to lead its internal computational and bioinformatics team. Zhou previously was a senior scientist at Illumina. Prior to working at Illumina, Zhou served as a bioinformatics investigator at the Institute for Genomic Research.
