Pacific Biosciences has appointed Terry Pizzie to be vice president of its Europe operations. Pizzie has worked at Genetix, now part of the Leica division at Danaher, as director of global commercial operations, and before that he was senior VP of commercial operations at Biacore, now part of GE Healthcare. Before those posts, Pizzie was VP, Europe, and VP of sales and marketing for Europe at Applied Biosystems.

Immucor has named Mason Morfit to its board of directors. Morfit is a partner with ValueAct Capital, an investment management firm. Prior to joining ValueAct Capital in 2001, he worked in equity research for Credit Suisse First Boston. Morfit is a director of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International and a former director of Advanced Medical Optics, Solexa, and MSD Performance.
