Helixis CEO Alex Dickinson has joined Illumina as senior vice president of PCR solutions, the firm said last week.

Dickinson led Helixis for three years prior to the company's acquisition by Illumina. Before that, he was president and CEO of Luxtera, and prior to that he served as CEO and chairman of Ethentica.

He holds a BE and PhD from the University of Adelaide in Australia, and an MBA from Columbia University.

Arrayit and its Arrayit Diagnostics subsidiary have hired Duane Steele to develop strategic alliances with pharmaceutical companies for the firm's OvaDx pre-symptomatic test for ovarian cancer.

Steele previously served as vice president of business development of Ivax Diagnostics and chief operations officer of Diamedix. He also worked formerly at Kallestad Diagnostics, where he was responsible for all international operations and where he established subsidiary operations in Canada, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and Australia.
