Ocimum Biosolutions, MWG Biotech, BioGenex

Ocimum Biosolutions last week introduced OciChips, the microarray portfolio it acquired from MWG Biotech, the company said.

OciChips includes the complete genomes of a multitude of model organisms such as rat and mouse as well as the complete human genome.

The Hyderabad, India-based company will also provide customers with custom arrays and the oligo sets for those who wish to homebrew their microarrays.

Ocimum aquired MWG's hybridization service, catalog arrays, oligo sets, consumable and kits, software, and array user information from MWG for an undisclosed sum in March (see BAN 3/2/2005).

BioGenex last week launched Xmatrx, a system for cell and tissue staining applications, for use in drug research and development, the company said.

The company said that Xmatrx is useful for the development of automated slide-based assays designed to perform microarray hybridizations, in vitro and in situ PCR, DNA sequencing, and the detection of SNPs and micro-deletions.

BioGenex said that digital image analysis could be performed using its BioGenex GenoMx VISION software.
