NanoString Technologies has named Lianne McLean vice president of marketing. McLean comes to NanoString from Applied Biosystems, where she was director of global strategic marketing in the Molecular Cell Biology Division. McLean also was involved in marketing whole genome-expression arrays, reagents, and model organism arrays at Affymetrix, and was involved in marketing at Roche and at Chiron Diagnostics.  
 

 
Louis Tartaglia, who resigned as chief scientific officer of Gene Logic in June, moved into a special advisory role, the company stated in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission last week. According to the filing, Tartaglia began his one-year stint as an advisor Sept. 1. Gene Logic will pay him a $25,000 retainer per year plus $150 per hour for his services.
