John Batty has been named chief financial officer and executive vice president of Affymetrix, the firm said last week. Batty replaces Greg Schiffman who resigned as CFO at the firm last December (see BAN 12/19/2006).
Batty previously served as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Credence Systems, a provider of test solutions for the worldwide semiconductor industry. Prior to Credence, he served as the chief operating officer of Network Equipment Technologies, a global provider of networking technology platforms.
Batty also served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Verilink, and held a variety of financial management positions at both VLSI Technology and Intel.
Batty holds a BA in economics from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
Theodor Dingermann has been named to the supervisory board of Protagen, the German protein array company said last week. Dingermann has been managing director of the Institute for Pharmaceutical Biology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt-am-Main since 1991.
Dingermann currently sits on the supervisory board of Innovectis, a technology services company. He was also a member of the supervisory board at Cilian between 2001 and 2005. Protagen said his experience in pharmaceutical research and development will support Protagen in its efforts to develop analysis tools based on protein biochips.
