Insightful this week launched its S+ArrayAnalyzer 2.1, a microarray data analysis software package compatible with Insightful's flagship S-Plus 7 analysis software.

The Seattle-based company said that the new software is useful for data access, QC data diagnostics, probe-level analysis, normalization, rigorous statistical modeling for differential expression and class discovery, and annotated graphical and tabular reporting.

S+ArrayAnalyzer 2.1 can also be integrated to work with other clinical and discovery data and analysis systems, allowing annotated reports and gene network analyses. The company said it would be suitable for drug discovery, pre-clinical testing, and clinical biostatistics.

NimbleGen this week released two microarray-based Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH) products and services for the detection of DNA copy number changes. The Madison, Wis.-based company launched its Human Whole-Genome Array CGH and Custom Fine-Tiling Array CGH for use in cancer research and identifying chromosomal abnormalities associated with congenital developmental disorders.

The new CGH chips are 385,000 probe microarrays with the company's standard long oligonucleotide probes that can be customized for higher resolution in chromosomal regions upon request. The microarrays also run on the company's Maskless Array Synthesis platform. In addition to human arrays, NimbleGen will soon offer whole-genome array CGH products for model organisms such as mouse and C. elegans.
