Affymetrix has introduced its GeneChip Sample Cleanup Module, which it co-developed with Netherlands-based reagent company Qiagen. The kit is designed to work with the GeneChip target labeling assay and is designed to streamline and standardize sample preparation, reducing the number of reagents that users have to order from different manufacturers, the company said. The kit includes a unique cRNA spin column that enables samples to be eluted in a smaller volume, as well as a buffer that optimizes the elution volume, and cDNA cleanup spin columns. The spin columns and buffer are designed to cut the sample preparation times. The company said it has tested the kit on a variety of sample types, from brain and liver to kidney, prostate, skin, blood, white adipose (fat) and other cell lines.
Prolinx of Bothell, Wash., has released a RapXtract Fluorescent Nucleic Acid Purification kit for Alexa dyes. The kit can be used to label RNA or cDNA using the ULYSIS nucleic acid labeling kits from Molecular Probes. These kits work by binding to labeled precursors that have not reacted, removing these precursors and purifying the product to increase its performance and yield, the company said.
