Fritz Bittenbender resigned as Pennsylvania's Secretary of Administration to become president of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association (PABIOTECH), effective on Dec. 1.

Philip Alfano was named chief financial officer and vice president, finance, for Paradigm Genetics of Research Triangle Park. Barry Buzogany was named general counsel and vice president. Alfano prev iously was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Greenwood Group, a Manpower franchise. Buzogany was senior vice president and general counsel for Gene Logic.

Kevin Tang has been elected to the board of directors of Mountain View, Calif.-based Aclara. Tang is managing director of Tang Capital Management, an investment company.

Joshua Phillips, a managing director at Catalyst Health and Technology Partners, and Enrico Petrillo, a general partner at CB Health Ventures, were named to the board of directors of microfluidics startup BioTrove of Cambridge, Mass.

Matthias Schönermark has resigned as chief executive officer of MWG Biotech of Ebersberg, Germany, effective Nov. 15, the company said. Thomas Becker, CFO, will lead the company on an interim basis. Schönermark left due to differences on the company's strategy, the company said.
