CombiMatrix Molecular Diagnostics this week launched an updated version of its ATScan test for pre-disposition screening for autism.
CMDX said that the ATScan test now includes content on “recent discoveries” that confirm the role of several new genomic imbalances in the etiology of autism spectrum disorder. [Morrow, et al. The ATScan test is based on CMDX’s array comparative genomic hybridization platform and is available through CMDX's California-licensed and CLIA-certified headquarters in Irvine, Calif.
Systems Analytics this week launched three desktop software products and said it has begun offering its services for high-throughput biomedical data analysis.
The first package, BatchMatch, is designed for quantifying and removing batch effects in microarray data, the company said. The software evaluates and removes the batch effect, facilitates the integrated study of multiple datasets, and enhances the statistical confidence in the detection of reproducible biological signals.
The second package, Robust Accurate Modeling Protocol, or RAMP, is designed for the optimal and automatic construction of predictive models using expression data. The automatic workflow built into RAMP generates and selects high-performance predictive models.
The third product, TopBioMarkers, is designed for identifying potential markers with strong predictive power and high reproducibility from expression data with multiple classes, such as dose groups and time points. The company said the software integrates well-known feature selection and classification methods in a computational scheme that includes consensus voting and objective ranking techniques, and accuracy and reproducibility measures for the quality of the selected features.
Caliper Life Sciences last week introduced the LabChip GX microfluidic-based benchtop system for separations directed at protein and genomics applications.
The instrument has 96- and 384-well plate compatibility and the ability to select single wells at any location in a plate, Caliper said in a statement. It replaces the LabChip 90 system and is capable of analyzing RNA integrity at a resolution down to 5 base pairs to ensure quality samples for RT-PCR, microarray gene expression, and resequencing applications.
