BD Biosciences of Palo Alto, Calif., introduced NuceloSpin Multi-8, a nucleic acid purification kit for purifying genomic DNA from 200 microliter samples of whole blood, plasma, serum or other fluids. The kits are designed to quickly process samples without phenolchloroform extraction and take less than 30 minutes for DNA purification.

PerkinElmer Life Sciences introduced three products. The company rolled out MultiProbe II Genomics Workstation, a sample preparation tool for DNA sequencing and microarray production. The system allows full automation for plasmid DNA purification, total and poly(A) RNA isolation, genomic DNA extraction, PCR cleanup, and sequencing reaction cleanup. Also, PerkinElmer rolled out the MultiProbe II Protein Purification Workstation and MultiProbe II Proteomics Platform.

Sigma-Genosys of The Woodlands, Texas, is offering three genome oligonucleotide collections for gene expression profiling — zebrafish, B. subtilis, and an E. coli library. The Zebrafish and b. subtilis offerings include 16,000 and 4,000 65mer oligo probes, respectively, while the E. coli library will represent the entire K12 genome as well as two sequences of the pathogenic 0157 strain.

Tm Bioscience of Toronto rolled out the Tag-it Mutation Detection Kits, its initial genetic testing products, based on the company’s Tm Universal Array technology. The company is offering a product for coagulation testing for Factor V Leiden, Factor II (prothrombin) and the two most common mutations in the MTHFR gene, which will be available as a test for Factor V Leiden and Factor II only, and as a test for Factor V Leiden only.
